Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10227 here in beautiful Prescott Valley, Arizona

Here are just a few of our 140+ VFW Post members, including seven members of our Ladies Auxiliary. Our post is comprised of World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan Combat Veterans. We also have a few "Expeditionary Medal" recipient members and a few "occupational zone" members thrown in for good measure. We are at peace in our hearts now, but there was a very defining period of time in all of our lives when we all wore the various military uniforms of our country, many of us carrying rifles through a number of different jungles over in the Pacific somewhere, or over in the European theater of combat operations at various areas and times, or who served aboard ships in those areas, served as military policemen, flew in and/or repaired aircraft, cooked for a battalion of troops, patched some of us up when we got hurt, flew as air crewmen in helicopters, or a great many other military occupational specialty jobs that we were assigned to be highly proficient in during our time in the spotlight while serving our country somewhere "over there," defending the American freedoms we always hold so dear and close to our hearts.

And, please everyone, lest we forget our many comrades who never made it back home...

Always remember that this man, this face, has a family praying for him, waiting for his return.

Please, lets all keep him, and all of the rest of them, in our nightly prayers.

There is an old saying that we veterans use. It goes this way:

"For those who fought for it ... FREEDOM has

a taste that the protected will never know!"

That saying was never truer than it is TODAY ...
